Oil on wood 2017 40 x 60 x 12cm
Joe Duggan is an Irish born artist living and working in London. Since graduating from a Master’s degree in Fine Art Photography at the Royal College of Art, Duggan has made and internationally exhibited works in photography, video, and sculpture whilst also writing and making films.
No.54 is from a larger body of work titled Non-Important art works - a collection. Made fast, these sculptures of scrap materials, are like sketches imbued with whimsy and irreverence. The title Non-Important art work can read as a comment on hierarchical and subjective systems at play in recognising the importance of one artist or artwork as being more valuable over another.
